Aqua Voice is a cloud dictation app for macOS, Windows and iOS from a Y Combinator W24 company. Hold Fn (Mac) or Alt (Windows), speak, release, and formatted text is inserted at the cursor in any app. It runs on Avalon, Aqua's own speech model, can read the screen for names and code terms (Deep Context), and offers custom instructions, a dictionary, Edit Mode for rewriting selected text by voice and, on the Max plan, a Realtime Mode that shows words while you speak. The Starter plan is free with 1,000 words.

Pros

  • Proprietary Avalon model with published third-party benchmarks; optional Deep Context reads the screen for code and names
  • Edit Mode rewrites selected text by voice on every desktop plan; custom instructions, dictionary and replacements
  • Pro is $8 per month billed annually; 49 dictation languages with automatic detection

Cons

  • Cloud processing only; the FAQ says offline availability varies and must be confirmed with support
  • Realtime Mode (words appear while speaking) and the "send it" command require the $24-30 per month Max plan
  • The free Starter plan is a one-off 1,000 words, not a recurring allowance
